What a Man Wants- Father’s Day at Hood River Saturday Market! June 11, 2013

Father’s Day is this weekend and what better way to spend it than perusing the arts, crafts, and local foods at the Hood River Saturday Market. A few things we got that men love include fine wooden furniture, lawn ornaments, turned wooden bowls, photography, hand salves for their cracked hands, alpaca fiber socks, fresh berries, asparagus, and of course, meat! We have locally-produce beef, pork, and chicken- perfect for a Father’s Day feast! Grab your shopping bag, round up the family, and come on down to the market, 9am-3pm!

Berries, Plants, Flowers Oh My! Saturday, June 8th 9am to 3pm June 6, 2013

Summer is in effect and the produce is flowing! New this weekend is Rasmussen Farms bringing veggie starts, flower baskets, berries, and more. We will also have peas and zucchini at the consignment table coming from a small farm in Parkdale, Nature’s Finest. Other farmers this weekend include Sulina & Bay Farms, Jefferies Ranch, A & B Farms, and Tumbleweed Farm. High Roost Ranch is taking the weekend off to catch up with some summer planting. Find some great photography, jewelry, clothing, and other handcrafted goods too!

If you want to grow your own produce, we will have OSU Extension Master Gardeners with us this weekend to answer any gardening or landscaping question you may have! Here’s to summer!

 

 

Alpaca Shearing Demo this Saturday, June 1st, 11-2 May 28, 2013

Ever wanted to see how an alpaca gets a haircut? Dale White from Underwood Alpacas will be demonstrating how alpaca fibers are harvested, carded, and then spun into yarn. Come see this interesting process, get your groceries on, and some gift shopping for photography, soaps, jewelry, aprons, pottery, and more!

Red & Blue for Memorial Day! May 20, 2013

Strawberries are debuting this weekend from A & B Farms and Sulina & Bay Farms! Other fresh produce includes rhubarb, green onions, green garlic, leeks, lettuce, chard, kale, mustard greens, salad mix, & peas! Other locally grown food includes fresh breads, grassfed beef, pastured pork & poultry, eggs, and Naked Dates! Bring your reusable bag and get your food shopping on! Best hours to get produce are 9am to noon, as some of our produce vendors pack up at noon to keep their produce fresh. See you all this Memorial Day weekend at the Hood River Saturday Market! Saturday’s entertainment will be an encore performance by songstress Heidi Davis singing classics, broadway show tunes, & modern pop from 11-2.

Music at the Market, May 18th May 14, 2013

Soprano singer Heidi Davis will be performing this weekend, May 18th, at the Hood River Saturday Market, sponsored by the mystery theater “Murder Served Hot” in Portland, from 11am to 2pm. The weather will be comfortable and the vendors kind. Come on out!
